Our visit to Minca was largely a success because of this great eco hostel. The eco hostel has great huts and hammocks in wooden lodges. The vegetarian meals are delicious and the breakfast is fantastic. But the highlights are the beautiful sunsets. Every evening we saw the sky turning yellow, orange, red and pink colours during sunset. Breathtaking! Tip: don’t forget to make a reservation, as Casa Loma is a very popular hostel and almost always fully booked.

  • Hostal Los Pinos – no link

This hotel itself may not be very special – no idyllic huts or fairytale bedrooms – but the location is one of the highlights of Minca. A hike from the village to the Los Pinos viewpoint in the mountains is one of the heavier trails in the area. The view from Los Pinos is definitely worth it. And you can sleep there too, how amazing is that!

Casa Loma is not the only famous place to sleep in Minca: it shares its first place with backpacker favourite Casa Elemento. It is a mecca for backpackers with its bar, music and the largest hammock in the world. The hammock hangs above the jungle and offers a view over the treetops to the sea. Even if you don’t sleep here, you can visit the hostel for a small price to chill in this hammock.

Think of cute huts, a great view and a green garden with tropical birds. This eco hotel is located on the outskirts of the town, yet in the middle of nature. A real gem and that for a reasonable price. Sounds good, right?
