Glamping in the Netherlands at Veluwe’s Glamp Outdoor Camp

This summer a brand new pop-up lamp settled on a beautiful part of the Veluwe. Glamp Outdoor Camp built the most beautiful tents in the middle of the Veluwe for this summer only, for the perfect glamping experience in the Netherlands. Glamping and Veluwe nature reserve sound like a match made in heaven! We got the chance to take a look and try out two cool accommodations.

Read more: we wrote about even more special stays in the Netherlands and Belgium, from tiny houses and forest cabins to treehouses and glamping.

Glamping in luxury festival tents

You don’t always have to compromise on comfort when you go camping. Add a bit of luxury and glamor and it turned into glamping in beautiful luxury tents. That is exactly what Glamp Outdoor Camp has to offer. The camping site has beautiful luxury tents that would normally be at Lowlands and other festivals these summer months. Now the festivals have been canceled this summer, the idea of a pop-up glamping on the Veluwe came up.

The result is a place where that festival vibe – cool tents, cozy atmosphere and cool tent for food & drinks – comes together as nature. We park our car at the entrance as it is a car-free site. Everything has been left as it was to affect nature as little as possible – there is not even a path to our second tent.

We spend our first night in the largest tent: the Dormer Cabin for two people. This tent is the epitome of luxury with a small kitchen, private bathroom in the tent, wooden walls and a veranda. But it’s still camping. The kitchen is a mini kitchen in camping style and on the windy day we stay here, the wind blows through the ridge of the tent. The ticking of the rain also reminds us of the camping adventures of our childhood.

The next day we move to the Air tent. I am very excited with our second accommodation. This is what a tent should look like: a classic triangle shape. It’s a luxury version of course. The Air has a mini-fridge, there is a socket and the tent is high and dry on a platform. The tent is spacious even enough for two-meter tall Sebastian to stand in the middle.

We slide the beds together, offering up moving space for a more cozy vibe. The Air has its own sanitary facilities, but not in the tent itself. The sanitary festival facilities have also been relocated to the Veluwe and bundled in a large toilet building. It’s completely corona-proof: each tent – except the more luxurious Dormers of course – has its own toilet and shower cubicle.

The rain doesn’t stop during our stay, so we hear that nostalgic ticking on the canvas in our second tent as well. As cozy as that may sound, camping in the rain – even glamping – still remains a challenge. With all the tent zips closed, it is too dark to read a book or play a game. And you have to go into the rain, if you want to head to the toilet area. The cozy camping area is just a little less inviting when it rains. To also give you an impression of Glamp Outdoor Camp without gray skies and rain in the photo, we included some sunny photos as well.

In the heart of the Veluwe

In between rain showers, we got to enjoy the Veluwe area. This glamping experience is in one of the most beautiful areas in the Netherlands. The glamping is located on a beautiful part of the Veluwe near Hoenderloo. The camping grounds are surrounded by heaths, forests and the beautiful Schenkenshul nature reserve. Hiking and forest bathing is a must-do here. With a little luck, you can even spot wildlife on an early morning hike.

But the other must-visit highlights of the Veluwe are also nearby. The Hoge Veluwe National Park with the famous Kröller-Müller museum for Van Goghs and modern art is a must. But the picturesque villages, bustling cities, historic castles and the royal Palace ‘t Loo are also highly recommended. Or how about a road trip along all these highlights?

This summer Glamp Outdoor Camp offers a unique vacation experience in the Netherlands with special festival tents in beautiful surroundings. But those tents are not winter-proof, so the owners already have plenty of plans for the colder season. Think of luxurious hotel rooms in the middle of nature for the ultimate Veluwe experience. We hope to get to enjoy this as well!
