Current prices and availability | A port city like Rotterdam must have a place to sleep on the water. How about a tiny house on the water? Between the Markthal, the Cube Houses and the Willems Bridge you can find two versions of the Wikkelboat in the Wijnhaven. In the front part of the boathouse, there’s a small kitchen, a narrow bathroom – where you’ll also find the mini dishwasher – and a desk. No unncessary luxury, but exactly what you need. The rear part with river view is where you find the couch and the fold-out murphy bed. With a view of a second terrace with barbecue and the water, this makes the perfect place to fall asleep!
#2 King Kong Hostel
Current prices and availabilty | This is perhaps the most famous hostel in Rotterdam. It is super central in the busy Witte de Withstraat with all its bars, restaurants and beer cafés. The famous café De Witte Aap is just around the corner. Despite this location I would not describe King Kong as a party hostel, but more as a design hostel. The interior has light colours, wood and natural materials. Tip: the King Kong restaurant is not only for guests, anyone can go there for breakfast or lunch!
#3 Ani & Haakien
Current prices and availability | This hostel feels like a vintage living room with an old-fashioned backpacker’s atmosphere. In this retro and vintage interior you can book super small private rooms for two people or spacious dorms. Of course you can use our blog for Rotterdam tips, but this hostel also organizes some great tours.
#4 Room Mate Bruno
Current prices and availability| Bruno is one of the newest additions to Rotterdam. The hotel is located in an old harbor warehouse on the bustling Wilhelminapier. This hip and upcoming part of Rotterdam may have the most beautiful terrace in Rotterdam with a view of the harbor at Hotel New York. But there are also many great spots for breakfast, lunch and coffee, good restaurants, museums, a film house and theater just around the corner. Tip: you can taste the best of Rotterdam at the Foodhallen in the same building!
#5 SS Rotterdam
Current prices and availability | This old steamship is perhaps the best fit for a port city like Rotterdam. In the past they were the huts of the steamship, but nowadays they are cool hotel rooms in fifties style. You can join a tour on the ship to learn more about its history. And did you know that it is also a restaurant and a day trip destination? The deck with swimming pool and lounge chairs is a great place to enjoy the sun.
#6 Hotel New York
Current prices and availability| I already mentioned Hotel New York as a great place to sit down on the terrace with a harbor view, but it is of course a beautiful hotel in the first place. Rotterdam is known as a modern city with modern architecture, but in this historic building you can get a taste of the old Rotterdam.
#7 Nhow Rotterdam
Current and availability | This modern hotel has super comfortable rooms with a view of the famous Erasmus Bridge. What a place to fall asleep after a busy day of sightseeing! And if you still have some energy left? Then head over to the bar for a nice cocktail.
#8 The James
Current prices and availability | This 3-star hotel offers affordable luxury within walking distance of all the highlights in the center. The beautiful design gives the hotel its unique touch. The lobby has a warm vibe and there is a gym and 24/7 food market for all your late night snacks.
Current prices and availability | Rotterdam is known for its modern architecture, but in the west of the city you can find the historic Delftshaven. That is also the home base for this beautiful hotel in an old power house (stroom is Dutch for electricity). The history of the building is reflected in the industrial touches of the design hotel. STROOM is not just a hotel, there’s also a brasserie with a vintage feel, bakery, fresh shop and espresso bar. It’s a good thing Rotterdam has so much to offer, or you wouldn’t be able to leave the hotel your entire weekend trip.
#10 CityHub Rotterdam
Current prices and availability | You shouldn’t have claustrophobia when staying at this unique concept in Witte de Withstraat. It has tiny small hubs for two guests! But you won’t be spending much time in your cabin anyway, because CityHub is located in the heart of the vibrant nightlife of Rotterdam.
#11 Hotel Light
Current prices and availability | Once known as the City Hotel, this hotel is the perfect base for art lovers. The Museumpark with the famous museums of Rotterdam is just around the corner. The lobby is the heart of the hotel with a luxurious but peaceful design and an espresso bar. Unique to Hotel Light is the communal kitchen, which you can usually only find in hostels.
#12 Hotel Pincoffs
Current prices and availability | Pincoffs was the very first boutique hotel in Rotterdam. You have to be willing to cross the river to Rotterdam South, but you will get an award-winning hotel in return. In a historic building overlooking the river you’ll spend the night in ultimate luxury. It took a renovation of 14 months back in 2008 to create this. There was even a tv show about it.
