We were told that centuries ago, the balconies were reserved for the men of the village, while the women sat below on the pews, adding a fascinating cultural layer to the church’s history.
Though the church’s spire was struck by lightning in 1706 and never replaced, the building still stands as a monument of incredible beauty and historical weight. As you step inside, you’re enveloped in centuries of history, from the striking paintings on the walls to the awe-inspiring altar that takes center stage. It’s a place that truly transports you through time and is undoubtedly a visit to remember.

In 1701, the grandsons of Louis XIV, the Duke of Burgundy and the Duke of Berry, were received here. The house also played host to Napoleon III and his wife Eugénie in 1854, adding yet another layer of history to its rich legacy.
