Swakopmund is so different from the rest of Namibia. The architecture is European styled with even half-timbered hauses, the street names sound German and the Swakopmund restaurants serve dishes like schnitzels and bratwurst. Swakopmund is more like old Germany than Africa, offering a great place to unwind from all the desert, rocks and nature during your trip. As there aren’t many restaurants in Namibia, you’ll probably love the opportunity for some dining at one of the Swakopmund restaurants. We listed the 10 best restaurants, bars and coffee spots in town!
The best Swakopmund restaurants, coffee bars and hotspots
#1 Brauhaus Swakopmund
The Arcade 22, Sam Nujoma Drive | This German-styled restaurant has nothing to do with Africa or African cuisine. It offers schnitzels and German bratwurst in an authentic German setting.
#2 The Tug
A.Schad Promenade | This more fancy restaurant is located at the coast and has perfect ocean views. The menu focuses on sea food.
#3 Raith’s deli
Tobias Hainyekostrasse 5 | The perfect place for coffee, ice cream, breakfast or lunch. Skip the seats on the ground floor and head upstairs for the best spots. It has comfortable couches, high tables at the window for people watching and a hammock chair.
#4 Jetty 1905
On the pier, Molen Weg | Located on the Swakopmund pier, this restaurant is the perfect spot for sunset. The menu offers a lot of sea food, but other dishes as well. It’s the view that makes Jetty 1905 a popular spot though, not the food.
#5 Slowtown
Altona Haus 5, Daniel Tjongarero Avenue | The best coffee in Swakopmund? This is your spot! There is not much more on the menu than pie and a lot of coffee. Yet that is enough to always have a terrace full of people drinking their daily caffeine shots.

#6 Cordes & Co.
Daniel Tjongarero Avenue 23 | This was our favorite breakfast spot in Swakopmund for sure. Good coffee, friendly staff, a nice garden and the very best breakfast in town. Tip: go for the pancakes.
#7 Two Beards
Unit 6 Eastern Concepts, 5 Einstein Street | Swakopmund is home to the hippest coffee roaster in Namibia: Two Beards Coffee Roasters. The roastery is located just outside the city. Of course you can taste the coffee of Two Beards there in the “Gourmet Coffee Bar and Bistro” right next to the roastery. And don’t forget to buy your beans to bring some home with you.
#8 Kücki’s Pub
Tobias Hainyekostrasse 22 | Kücki’s is a bit of a Swakopmund legend. It’s the most popular bar in town, also serving food in the restaurant area. Make your reservations ahead.
#9 Village Cafe
Sam Nujoma Avenue 23 | Village Cafe serves the most delicious breakfast and lunches dishes in a colourful interior and green garden. The many has many vegetarian options, although bacon seems to be their favourite part on the menu. And do you have your four-legged friend with you? There is a special menu for dogs. Really.
#10 Brewer & Butcher
Molen Weg | This place serves the best craft beer in Swakopmund – maybe even Namibia – as Brewer & Butcher is not just a bar or restaurant, but a brewery called the Swakopmund Brewing Company as well.
