Cottages of wood and leaves roofs. By the water and in the middle of the jungle. In the evening, everything is beautifully illuminated with lights for a magical atmosphere. The brand new Boatique Hotel & Marina is truly a magnificent jungle paradise in the Rio Dulce region.
During our trip through Guatemala we were allowed to stay two nights in this brand new acquisition of the Rio Dulce region. From restaurant Sundog in Rio Dulce – recommended for the pizzas! – we could take the shuttle from Boatique to the hotel. Our evening arrival immediately brought us into magical atmospheres. The natural materials and atmospheric lights made us feel like we had arrived in a jungle paradise!
And brand new was Boatique for sure. When the warm owner came to welcome us, he had to admit that our rooms were not ready yet. He pointed out to us that his own house, a swimming pool and the double houses were still being built. Unfortunately, construction was delayed. Instead of a double house we got a dormitory for us together.
Boatique Hotel & Marina is open for less than half a year. At the time of writing there are already family houses with private bathrooms and a place in one of the three dormitory houses with four beds to book. The literal highlight of Boatique is the large building with the common areas, the restaurant and the large suite (where the owner himself had to live in anticipation of his own home). The lounge chairs and hammocks make this a lovely place to relax!
The hotel organizes excursions from five people to all the highlights of the Rio Dulce River and the lakes. Not enough people? Then the helpful staff will arrange a spot on a different tour for you. Or maybe you’d rather go kayaking or supping through the area, like we did! In a wooden kayak we explored the water around Boatique for hours. We knew there were a lot of monkey families in the area – unfortunately not at the hotel because of the sound of construction – and we even managed to spot a whole family of them!
As far as we are concerned, visiting Boatique Hotel & Marina’s jungle paradise is a must. The Rio Dulce area is completely different from the rest of the country and this paradise village sums up the jungle atmosphere perfectly.
