Warredal is a recreational area in Belgian Limburg with a riding school, a climbing forest with ziplines and a Forest Camp for unique overnight stays. The cozy cabins are scattered throughout this Warredal forest. They are all cozy forest huts with wood-burning stoves, gas lights and large windows. You have them for two people, but the largest cabins can accommodate five guests. And the most beautiful houses? You can find them at a height of three meters between the trees!
We were allowed to stay at Warredal in one of those Treetop Cabin at a height of three meters. With a staircase we arrive at the raised terrace and the veranda of our tree house. Two sliding doors open a cozy space of wood, wood and more wood. Almost everything is made from natural materials and even in the kitchen there is no plastic in sight. One of the walls is made entirely of glass, making the forest an extension of our tree house. Our favorite place in our tiny house is of course the lovely seat in front of this huge window. The perfect place for a game or good book!
The cabins are also described as getting back to nature, off the grid and glamping. But you hardly have to compromise on comfort! There is a fully equipped kitchen, a wood-burning stove keeps the house nice and warm in winter and the bathroom has hot water. Extra fun: you first have to ‘gather’ your wood at the wood shed before you can light your stove. Where the comfort ends? The fridge is a cool box on the porch, so you have to quickly go outside to get there. The lighting in the evening is also minimal with two oil lamps, an LED lantern, two candles and some subtle Christmas lights. Unfortunately, that is just not enough to play a game in the evening – is this green or blue? – or read a book.
There is no wifi and the number of sockets is minimal, so leave your digital entertainment at home. Instead, go climbing and zipline – also for adults – in the climbing forest, book a sweaty hour in the sauna or hot tub and take a walk through the beautiful forests in the area. Your time in Warredal is the perfect opportunity to fully explore the great outdoors!
